The New England Muscle Bicycle Museum. The Motor bikes page 5. This beautiful Sportster is very close to how it left the show room in 1971. By this time the XLH had a windshield, fiberglass bags from the Tommahawk plant, white seat with an aluminum grab bar, turtle gas tank and no spare kicker
What is not correct on this vintage Sportster is the air cleaner cover (it is from a 73 FLH), the mufflers (from the 71 XLCH) and the rear wheel that should be a 18" and not the 16" that is on this now. I had bought this to add the optional fiberglass boat tail seat/ fender section that was available as a $60 dollar option with a black seat and a $90 dollar option with the white seat. I have deceided that trhis particular motorcycle is just too orignal and is more of a time capsule than I wish to defile, at least at this time. It should not be too tough to find a more needy 70 or 71 to become my dream of a boat tail XLH. This girl is just too darn nice. Stay tuned for more...
